Driver Meeting at Tighe Logistics

Getting your products delivered safely and on time is crucial to any 3PL. At Tighe Logistics, we recognize that our drivers are key to ensuring that happens – and they are an invaluable part of our commitment to our customers. In May, our drivers gathered for our Quarterly Driver Meeting and it was a great session! Here’s some insight into what took place.

The morning began with doughnuts, coffee and a fun activity to break the ice. One of our driver leaders was even crowned as the drivers’ favorite villain! Once the hilarity was out of the way, we got down to business. Tighe Logistics CEO, Bob Willert, thanked the group for their hard work and contribution to Tighe’s continued growth and success, before giving them an update on the latest news at Tighe and his perspective on what to expect in the coming quarter.

As we all know, change is a constant for the transportation and logistics industry. Our dispatch leader took the floor and invited the entire team to embrace change as Tighe continues to lead the way in New England. He explained how new ways of working enable drivers and the entire Tighe team to adapt and provide an even higher quality of service for our customers.

Next, Tighe’s Director of Transportation took the podium to give the latest report on the state of transportation at Tighe – and what to expect with current and future clients. Then the team dove into new fleet maintenance and fleet safety process improvements – which is always top-of-mind for the team and our drivers. Everyone enjoyed a final Q&A session with active participation, before enjoying a delicious lunch from Café Leonardo’s. It was great to see everyone, and we can’t wait for the next one!

Top Reasons Why Drivers Matter

As we said at the beginning of this post, drivers are a crucial part of Tighe – and our customers rely on their experience and know-how. Many of our drivers have been with us for decades. But you may not realize the many benefits of having long-tenured drivers moving your goods and products. Here is why they matter:

  1. Experience and Expertise: Long-term drivers have extensive knowledge of routes, regulations, and best practices in the industry. Their experience ensures efficient and safe transportation, minimizing delays and damages.
  2. Consistency and Reliability: Reliable drivers build trust with clients by consistently meeting delivery schedules. This consistency is vital for maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring repeat business.
  3. Cost Efficiency: Experienced drivers are more adept at optimizing routes and handling unexpected challenges, leading to reduced fuel consumption and operational costs. They can also prevent costly mistakes and accidents.
  4. Customer Satisfaction: Long-term drivers are often better at handling customer interactions, providing a higher level of service. Satisfied customers are more likely to continue using the 3PL provider and recommend their services to others.
  5. Safety and Compliance: Seasoned drivers are more familiar with safety protocols and compliance requirements. They are less likely to incur fines or penalties due to violations, ensuring smoother operations.
  6. Retention and Recruitment: High turnover rates can be disruptive and costly. Long-term drivers reduce recruitment and training expenses, and their loyalty can attract other experienced drivers to the company.
  7. Relationship Building: Drivers who have been with a company for a long time develop strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders. These relationships can lead to better communication, more tailored services, and increased business opportunities.

This behind-the-scenes look at our drivers meeting is just one example of how Tighe’s commitment to our people is the foundation of our commitment to our customers. Our drivers are invaluable assets to Tighe – and to our customers. They are one of the many reasons Tighe has been the leading 3PL in New England for decades.
